Where we live we have a million pound police station with nobody in it but traffic police. It used to be fully operational but not any more. You only see police when they are leaving to go on shift and again when they come back. Further toward the coast is the Dengie and thieves can just do whatever they like as it takes the police so long to get from Chelmsford, about 15 miles. We need to be paying a lot more tax and national insurance to bolster up the police, fire and nhs.When you report anything to the police they say they will send somebody out if they have a spare moment. Not good enough.

Doesn't matter how many police there are if they don't respond to crime call outs.

Question from an (apparently, on this topic) ignorant American:
Is it very difficult for people to adopt dogs from a local shelter? Why would they be looking to buy dogs from someone?
I get (not like, but understand the concept behind) stealing an expensive purebred puppy that could be sold or bred, but the second article referenced adult mixed breed dogs being taken...

The trend ATM is for 'designer' cross breeds. For example Labradoodles. These 'designers' fetch huge prices (can't think why, but still) & there's such a huge demand for puppies ATM that they're going for massive prices.

True - sadly, some rescues have such strict criteria (or make potential homes jump through so many hoops) that it's a wonder they ever home dogs !! But the good ones take the whole picture into account. |
