These are some of the many photos I had of my lovely girl who died a year ago. She was so lovely with us and a real pain with other people and dogs after several traumatic experiences between 7-9 months - she never recovered from them despite all our efforts. Nevertheless we loved her to bits. click on lick to view. photos.app.goo.gl/ZGewG7XVVT4aEPqn1

Nice pics Jenna. Have a look at my avatar to the left hand side, that is My Aide and those pictures of tinker look exactly like her when she was younger.

Yes- I have noticed the similarity. Like you I have gone for a different coat this time. She has a totally different temperament as well. Tinka was always edgy even before things went wrong.

At 7 months she was attacked by a mastiff whilst we were walking outside our house. The dog had pulled away from the lady walking her and came tearing across the road at us. To be honest I was just as scared as she was. No physical damage, biting etc but the psychological damage was done. I think she gave off a bad vibe after that and other dogs seemed to pick on her. She then became very lead reactive to other dogs but was OK off lead. About a month later we were burgled when she was in the house on her own and they had used a spade to keep her at bay. Again no physical damage but she was totally frightened when we arrived home and never liked anybody coming to the house after that, no matter what we tried. She even used to panic if she saw me kneeling on the work surface to reach something. About a month later, the people next door had a firework party that started about 5pm and went on until past midnight (on 5 Nov). When you put everything together one thing then fed off another and she was totally unable to relax anywhere, and became reactive to people generally to the extent that I was unable to leave her off the lead unless there was totally nobody around. Made for some very difficult walks. Spent about £2000 in behaviourists to no avail. But we loved her to bits and did the best we could for her. Sorry - I have gone on a bit.

If you feel its more appropriate - I just wanted to share. Whatever you feel's best, Jenna - we're happy either way ... I have gone on a bit. Not at all, that's what forums are for FB's okay for one-liners, but forums are for folk who want to listen and share ...

Poor little mite went through the mill then, no wonder she was scared.

It always seems so easy to say "make everything positive" during a fear stage - but you can't avoid idiots!

Yes, circumstances spoiled her, and to be honest I think she was a bit of a nervous dog anyway. These things happen, just a shame because I wanted to do so much with her and she was really easy to train. Funnily enough she wasn't dog reactive in training classes, but as soon as we left she was a different dog! In training she must have felt safe.
