My Beautiful girls, all together now. All lost to cancer. But I do not regret one minute spent with them or the hard work & helping them through their last weeks when they were ill. It still hurts like hell and there is a lump in my throat when I look into those eyes. Miya (last two photos) who we lost in Feb 2018. Our beautiful, pretty, gentle girl who was my shadow. She was spoilt and loved so very much. She would sing to my parents whenever the visited and get so excited! one of her ears would tilt slightly on the end when she was excited. I miss cuddling her & her rolling over in the grass to scratch her head. She was really special. We were so lucky to have found her "free to a good home" on the internet. Such a special, beautiful girl. Candice Marie (first photo laid down), was our first lovely girl. She was a puppy bought from Essex. We travelled to get her in 1997. She was very kind & gentle natured, a real beautiful girl too. She passed away aged 7. We have never gotten over this. Megan & Holly (first photo) were real sisters. Last of a litter and we bought them in 1999. They were long haired & completely crazy! Such different characters than Candice & Miya! But still very loving and loyal. Megan lived until she was 1 day away from being 11 years old & Holly died aged 12.5 years. Holly was the one with the most health problems. She had allergies & ended up needing a wheelchair for the last few months of her life before a lump was found behind her ear which was cancer. She did not suffer and passed away so peacefully at home with us. We will be looking for another beautiful GSD to join us very soon, but I am still aching inside from losing Miya to hemangeosarcoma. Miss them all very very much.

Thanks for choosing to share them all, Laura.
I don't believe you ever don't miss them - I'm suddenly pulled up by memories of a previous dog, but hopefully with time the memories become happier and more comforting.
... and all my dogs ever are still helping folk on this forum and elsewhere.
Hugs to you'n'yours from T'n'me ...

Hi Laura
There have been a great many of our dogs gone in the last couple of years and so we know just how you are feeling. I lost my girl last July and feel her with me everyday I just wish she could give this new pup of ours a kick up the backside as he seems such hard work compared to her.

Lovely tribute to your beautiful girs! I know how you feel also as my Sting crossed the bridge last June. His breeder told me that our gsds are with us for such a short time but are so worth it. Wishing you luck in your puppy search. I too was set on a black/tan gsd to follow in Sting's big pawprints, but as my avator shows, Baron, a dark sable long-coat is the pup I have. It worked out for the best as I can't expect Baron to be like Sting was, so it seems like a fresh start.

Yes I chose the polar opposite to my Aide. She was a standard coat black and gold and truly shimmered in the sunshine, and this little horror is a male red sable long coat so very different. You cant expect any two dogs to be the same or indeed want that. Its like having kids with the same characteristics it just wouldn't work.

Beautiful girls. They were lucky to have you care for them, esp when they were old and unwell. Tragic that people are discarding their dogs in their twilight years 😢

Thank you so much for the replies! Sorry to hear you are having a little rasacal on your hands!! It was so uncanny how similar looking and character Miya was to Candice.. when my parents waked in to meet Miya for the first time when we brought her home, they just said "It's Candice again!" but yes I do fully understand none can be the same or you cannot compare one to a new pup. My husbands favours black & tan short coat, I love any dog any colour! but our hearts do sway towards GSD! So at the mo we are looking for or starting to look anyway for what he prefers, I am researching raw feeding diets & everything else I can do keep this one as healthy as possible. I do feel slightly to blame for not understanding Miya's cancer sooner and not being educated in hemangeosarcoma cancer. Thanks for all the kind words x

Hi Laura, sorry to hear you lost your beautiful girl Miya recently. It's so sad when they leave us and they will always remain in our hearts. Hope you find a lovely puppy to help with your healing.
