Doubt we can move today, even if we wanted too.. Woke up to find we're literally 'frozen in'! Rusty thinks the snow is wonderful! At first he was suspicious, until he managed to get some on his nose, then he saw the fun potential and he had a ball! The canal is frozen, not too sure how much, but I wouldn't let Rusty 'investigate' just in case, even though he's got his harness on with a handle to fish him out. We had hoped to meet up with friends tomorrow, they were travelling from Sheffield. Their previous dog 'Ollie' a red setter, was a great friend to Rusty. Ollie has been 'recycled' into a gorgeous pup called Henry. We were looking forward to meeting Henry, but I guess this isn't going to happen tomorrow. It may be difficult to compute, but we're keeping so warm. We've planned well, so if we don't move for a week we'll be okay! BTW, we're presently just outside Coventry. Keep warm everyone....

We're pretty much snowed in as well. Dempsey loves it, but I hate it!
My son was supposed to be coming home for his birthday, but the trains are pretty disrupted. Doesn't look like he'll make it unfortunately.

Please tell me again when these dogs are going to get 'sensible' lol On the other side of the frozen canal is a field with a public right of way, which is used by dog walkers. Having a great time in the snow in the field was a gorgeous girlie 21 month old GSD. This was too much for my boy, he was desperate to join in the fun with her. Guess you don't need a second guess to know what he did..... The ice turned out to be no more than slush. Rusty was quick to realise his mistake. Lucky we had the 'handle' on his harness. Poor John had to haul him out of the canal as best he could. Lying on the ground, grabbing the handle while John managed to pull Rusty near enough to the bank for Rusty to scramble out. Rusty's now fast asleep on his blanket in front of the log burner, dreaming of what might have been....

Poor Rusty! And poor John - rather him than me.
Looks like my son can get to Wellingborough & we can pick him up from there. Fingers crossed.
