I'm not convinced that wolves became dogs. I follow the theory that there's a common ancestor, but that they evolved separately.

Common ancestor for me DNA tests prove nothing due to far to much interbreeding between dogs and wolves. Perhaps wolves evolved from dogs! Almost total inability to make wolves or wolf/dog hybrids in to an animal suitable as a pet they will and do revert to nature regardless of what age you nurture them from. There are exceptions to this but I can't imagine our ancestors using wolves for anything other than a fur source.
