A friend of mine, Karen, is a dog-trainer in the states and owns/runs West Wind Dog Training www.westwinddogtraining.com/From her work there, she's started a project called The Safe Kids/Safe Dogs Project - lots of handouts/printables and great advice based on real experience. www.safekidssafedogs.com/

I have routine lectures with my preschoolers on how to meet dogs. I use material that a local animal clinic has provided for free and have Buddy along (with a proper handler) to demonstrate. Due to allergy issues he cannot meet the kids but they get to see him and the other adults interacting with him. It has been quite good for the kids in how they approach dogs.

I think it's a great idea! It's about time the authorities in the UK took this into the curriculum.
