It’s funny but I have been looking for my first shepherds pedigree and have looked everywhere without any luck. I know that I would not have thrown it out, or folded it up and so it should be easy to find as it’s A3 in size. It’s made me think of him, he was a handsome dog of the ‘old school’ type of Shepherd commonly known in those days as a A......... , well you get the idea. His pedigree name was Ramacon Marshall and was from the famous Ramacon breeders Will and Marge Rankin famous for Ramacon Swashbuckler and Ramacon Philanderer. (Look them up on the internet, always worth a look at how shepherds looked in those days). It’s funny that I remember so well when I went to the kennels to pick my first ever Shepherd, my first ever dog, (but I did have a bugie and a newt so I thought I qualified). It was in 1977 before many of you were born, except Brian he is very old😊, but I remember the old furniture and the bad lighting and these 8 or so puppies all running around the parlour jumping over one another. One kept coming over to me and that’s the one I bought for the princely sum of £55 (a lot at the time). Come two weeks after the second jab I thought great we can go out,but the little devil didn’t want to go out so I had to put him back in the house. He grew into a fantastic dog but died through hpi and torsion shock at the age of 4. I swore never to get another dog but his memory has stuck with me always. You never forget a dog they are part of you. If you lost an arm you wouldn’t give up you would just learn to use the other one better. People handle this in different ways some will get another some will call it a day but either way you have done it your way.

I’ll be honest and say there’s v few of these I can bear to read without being a blubbering wreck. Maisie is healthy but in her twilight years as is my oldest horse and I’m just dreading the end. It’s not just dogs (tho they are one of the worst!) but any pet can break your heart. I adore pet rats (won’t have them now because of cat) but they are so intelligent and come when u call their name (both of mine did) but their lives are short. I’ll never forget sobbing in the waiting room while they put dear little Roxy to sleep and came out with the shoebox 😢. Like a right wally! Spent fortunes on her and her allergies yet only cost £5 to buy😂

Beautiful sentiments!
Chris, I had a friend (many years ago) who had a couple of Ramacon pups.I can't remember their names, unfortunately, just that the little bitch was called Piddle! Will & Marge were fascinating to talk to & had a wealth of knowledge. People might not have liked their 'type' but they knew what they were doing!

this is exactly how we feel it reflects perfectly our own thoughts. From Barney the three legged wonder nobody wanted in 1995 to Bobby today all 6 of them have had a really difficult start and Barney passed away we met Suki, When Izzy passed away we met Roxi and when Billy passed on we met Bobby. We never set a time on finding a Dog that needed a home it just sort of happens.

I believe you get the dog(s) you need and the dogs that need you ... but I can't bear the 'everything out of the corner of your eye is the just gone dog (or cat) - _have to start searching frantically for the next one. ymmv
