Hello everyone, my application is pending, but I thought I'd introduce myself and my pup! I've recently lost my beloved Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Charlie who was my constant companion to heart failure at only 8 years old. I didn't think I'd have the heart to get another dog, but my daughter missed Charlie so much and I was feeling so miserable without him, that we decided to just 'look' and think about what breed we'd like if we did get another dog. We thought it would be nice to get a completely different type of dog, not a 'lap dog' and maybe just a tad bigger than a Cavalier, however after much research and talking to people we decided that a GS would be perfect, although this was a dog that was going to be MUCH bigger than Charlie but we were excited about the challenge! As fate would have it, we found our new boy Max literally round the corner from our house and waited impatiently until we could bring him home. Well, he is certainly proving to be a challenge, very intelligent and extremely bouncy and already as big as Charlie at only 8 weeks old he is an absolute joy, and has cheered us up and filled the house with mad scampering and barking! I'm so pleased to have found you all, it'll be great to be able to ask questions and share stories with a friendly bunch of people, especially as we're newbies to GS ownership!!

Hi Melanie Moonweaver and welcome to the forum, wow what a name, brilliant.
I'm glad that you have made the decision to get a shepherd and to join the forum. When this forum was 'Mygermanshepherd' it had a mass of information about all things 'dog' especially shepherds. Sadly it was brought down by hackers and the owner of the site disappeared along with all of that valuable information. The good news is that there are some valuable members on this site that have remembered some of it and are able to pass that knowledge along. Any questions that you have we will try to give you an honest answer to.
We do like pictures and you can get information on that within the menu.
Again welcome and we look forward from hearing your news on Max but don't forget about yourself too, this is an extremely friendly forum.

You may or may not remember me, but I was on the old board since something like 08 or 09, way back when Archie was a wee puppy. Very sad when it went down -- very glad to have found this forum!
I'm Sarah(mackico) from NZ, and my old boy is Archie the long stock-coat GSD. He'll be 9 in June. He's that dog that always had everything wrong with him, medically. Bad hips, bad elbows, bad pancreas, allergies... Still going strong, though.
I have a second dog, a Shiba Inu/Akita mix, Kobi, and I'm on a waitlist for a new GSD pup at the end of the year.
Currently awaiting verification.

Hi mackico, thats a blast from the past. Unfortunately this site is now like the Marie Celeste ie theres nobody on it. It was a stepping stone after mygermanshepherd went down so those that did not want to go the facebook route had somewhere to hang out. FYI mygermanshepherd is on facebook and I'm sure that they would love to hear from you. I pop back here from time to time to see if there is any life here but generally im talking to myself so I for one are glad you arrived. Its nice to see Archie still keeping you on your toes, give him a hug.
