Here is a video for you of Schmuley meeting Malathi. This was the second time they met I just didn't get any video of the first one, too fast and not controlled. Mistake!!! Schmuley doesn't scratch her, just makes a lot of noise. He actually instigated this meet himself.

This is Schmuley all over. He is a very vocal cat and can be like this with humans. He will come through to the living room and just sit and look at her. I have a piece of perspex at the living room door through to the hallway and he lies and teases her through it. He can be a little brat that way.

If it were me, I'd be aiming for meetings to be when Malathi is sitting calmly.

If it were me, I'd be aiming for meetings to be when Malathi is sitting calmly. Thank you gtrmacs, I've tried that and it is like an ON switch is turned on. This pup is so hyper all the time, never had one like her and I have had 6 of them. The cottage is big enough that I can keep them apart. The cat is never in danger and I am always there in case anything does happen. There is no aggression, she just wants to play.

What an absolute beauty she is! Is she working line? She sounds like it! Thank you. I would say she is off working line. Need to look at her pedigree line. Her Dad does Schutzhund and her Mum was just the family dog. I know that sometime they can can inherit the traits of Schutzhund. Hope it is the obedience if any.

Thank you, I am starting to section her day now. She has her down time and is in another room so easy to ignore. She seems to enjoy that time too. I have a routine pinned on the wall for her, and I do try to keep to it rigorously. Never heard of flirt poles. Will have a look at these articles. I so want her to be a good dog but she is getting a bit of a handful. I am not new to GSD's but this one is pushing my limits. Hopefully just a stroppy teenager. Always trying to remember she is only 17 weeks today.

Edit: Just had a look at Flirt poles. I played with her with one of the cats toys, similar, and she loved it. Guess what I am going to try now. The Brain games look fab too. She will love them. Watch this space.

... she is getting a bit of a handful. I am not new to GSD's but this one is pushing my limits. Hopefully just a stroppy teenager. Always trying to remember she is only 17 weeks today. That's why so many end up in rescues And just to remind you: precisely when you think she's trained (around 6 months??) she'll start playing up again Repeat around 18 months?? and again around 30 ?? It's so easy to forget the hard work we put into previous dogs, new ones are a real wake up I once thought Tasha was being an extra pain until by chance (I'd forgotten we'd been there previously) we went to a Welsh beach we'd visited with Ellie (4 dogs ago, so about 15 years past) at around the same age. Struggling to traverse the cliff path safely, it all came flooding back - like a light bulb going off Duuuuh !!! ... Always trying to remember she is only 17 weeks today. Not going to criticise - in 50+ years of rescue dogs, I've had a puppy _once_. Swore I'd never do it again!! There's a _reason_ I pick my rescues at 2+ Are you reading this, andyferg ... ??

Watch this space. Please be VERY careful with flirtpoles at her age. If you do use one (and I would recommend you don't until she's at least 18 months old, preferably older), only drag it along the floor, one way only - no sudden changes of direction or air leaps. Her young muscles/ligaments/bones cannot cope with that sort of activity!
