One of our local vets has started giving the Kennel Cough vaccine by mouth! Brilliant and not before time! I'm hoping ours will do the same before long. I took Gus for his jabs last Friday and we had to back him into a corner, cover his eyes with a scarf, and hold on tight!! The newly qualified vet, Emily, did a sterling job and managed to get the vaccine up his nose despite him jerking his head around!

Pretty sure - tho' a quick google seems to indicate it's not as effective as oral/nasal??

I've only had the kennel cough one given to my dog twice - both times it was a nasal squirt

I'm pretty sure that last time Tasha went into kennels it was a jab - but memory's a funny thing ...

I don't think the Kennel Cough vaccine can be injected.

I don't think the Kennel Cough vaccine can be injected. I think you're right - I've never heard of it being injected.

I can't promise she _did_ get an injection - but it's me who comforts her and holds her head ...

However, some boarding kennels insist on it and others don't, so that begs the question - why the difference?

I have a letter from my old vets saying it will be of no use to give Vinny a kc jab as he is on antibiotics but he hasn’t had them for a while now.

However, some boarding kennels insist on it and others don't, so that begs the question - why the difference? Vaccines, yes - core vaccines. But the kennel cough one is NOT core. Some daycare facilities do insist on kc vaccine, but many realise that it's a virus & so mutates constantly. Therefore, most kc vaccines are... useless.
