Apparently, the PM is now urged to cull all Bully XL dogs, even those that have never been a problem? Scaremongering I think, and maybe tactical? Sorry not saying anything else, otherwise it would become too political. But, on the same note, when will all other large breeds be banned? We will end up as a nation with handbag dogs if this carries on....

How awful it must be if you own a bully breed, we're already getting worried owners posting on facebook, can't be very nice. Just imagine how we would all feel if it was GSDs! When I had my first GSD, in 1981, they were the current 'bad' breed and people used to cross the road to avoid my Shady even when she was a tiny 12 week old!!

Dead cat tactics - evil Maggie introduced the Dangerous Dogs Act when she needed to divert attention from her other problems, Richie and his mates are just trying the same. It's not even demonstrated that all the attacks were XL Bullies, at least one was described as a cross Only bad (on bad) legislation can come from this - not apologising for any perceived politics in my reply because this _is_ politically driven

There was an alarmist TV news item on dog attacks, over 7,000 in last 2 (or was it 4?) years !! But only 300 or so needed A&E?? I think they must be counting all the chihuahua and JRT nips ... Main stream media are whipping up a frenzy, prob'ly be worse if it weren't for Russell Brand ...

Firstly, pedigree dogs are not likely to be at risk of a ban. There's a lot of scaremongering "will your breed be next" by the anti BSL lobby. Now don't get me wrong, I utterly oppose BSL - banning a breed does nothing, that has been proved with the Pitbull ban. But. XL Bullies are NOT a standardised breed. They are NOT a well bred, thoughtfully produced companion dog. They are a breed bred to look big & scary. They have been heavily inbred mainly to one particular dog in the USA called Killer Kimbo - a dog known to produce dogs with bad temperaments. In this country the gene pool is so congested, most XLs have a COI of 25% and above. They do not have any set Standard. They come in all shapes and sizes. Most are nervous, anxious dogs - not inherently 'bad' but likely to react badly. The only other option to a ban is widespread training of dogs and owners of ALL breeds & rigorous temperament and health testing of all breeding dogs - that isn't going to happen! In the immediate, how many more people will be maimed or killed because of another 'fad' from the US? What is the alternative to a ban? What is a viable option to a ban? www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2023/09/14/britains-xl-bullys-descend-one-inbred-pet-us-killer-kimbo/There are other articles about him & concern is even growing in the USA about the XL's temperament.
