Its been a about a month now but I’m ready
There is so much I can say but it would take forever. She was a rescue Shepherd and had a very hard start. She was bought over by the rspca from Ireland rescued from a puppy farm 18 months old.She was pregnant for the 3rd time unbelievable.I would have loved to get my hands on those responsible.
Anyway we still had Molly another shepherd ,who was the Daughter of our first Shep Lady. When Ruby arrived ,Molly was poorly and ageing and had about 4 months with Ruby before I had to put her to sleep.I like to think that Molly gave Ruby a bit of wisdom and a bit of go to take on in her young years. She was hard work for the next 18 months very stubborn but wilful but little by little she was getting more settled and a pleasure she would have her moments….what dog doesn’t ?You know how it is we would ask the question on here ,for a solution, and this forum would always come up with an answer. When we lived in Eastbourne Ruby was always up for a swim with me in the sea loved it she did .When I use to take her out on to the local field to socialise with other dog owners Ruby always took centre stage. She was like the Top Dog if you will.
She would go into herding mode à great speed and round all the other dogs up like sheep. I was mortified at first but the Dog owners didn’t mind she did did it in a gentle manner if there was such a thing and much to the amusement of the dog owners themselves.Christmas day every year was a ritual on that field all the dog owners would come out with their dogs and we all bought a bottle of something and some food ,and treats for the dogs as well.Ruby loved her life she had a lot of knock backs but she always amazed me with her resilience and always came back her determination never wained .She just simply adapted to everything. Then we started a new life in France took to that situation in her stride this was her last moments of her life but I think it was her happiest. She had a acre of land as her back garden we got friendly with the locals and there dogs and they often came over and we just left them to it, I wanted to hang in to her as long as I could but I think in the end we both new that now was her time
Farewell my beloved Ruby ❤️
