Yesterday, apart from American independence day, was the day that my darling Aide passed away with the same condition that Vinny has. Unlike Vinny she only lasted 5 days as she got pneumonia from inhaled food which is always a concern with Vinny. She was such a lovely girl and we used to watch tv together spooning on the floor. I had this girl just 5 1/2 years and loved every minute of it, she was my heart dog for sure although I have loved the others she was something special. This photo was taken at 'Mutts in distress' open day by an unknown photographer on the day. I stole it obviously. She had her cruciate ligament operated on the rear right leg and all of the fur had grown back by that time . She never made a fuss about it and was a complete trooper. I said to myself, and maybe on this forum, that I would not ever allow myself to love a dog as much as I did her but of course as much as Vinny is outrageous at times I do love him dearly. Her breeder, although her illness was nothing to do with her, offered me one of her retired dogs and I will always be grateful for her offer. But I needed to get a dog that was opposite to her with greater checks on the parents health so I got a boy, she was a girl of course. I got a long hair and she was a short hair. Vinnys breeder had run such stringent checks on his parents and of course his pedigree was brilliant having a crufts best of breed winner and ..the.. shepherd of shepherds as his great grandfather. Elmo vom Huhnegrab his grandfather and Zamp vom Thermodos his great grandfather. but of course this all means nothing as with all of this Vinny still acquired this hateful condition himself. Aide, as I have said, was the special one though and she will be in my heart for all time.
