I wished I could have a German Shepherd for 10.5 years. So far it has been 3 and 5.5 years and god knows when Vinny will leave me.

Hard to know, CChris - but he's having the best life he possibly could.
I've had collieXs go 17, but with the sheps, Ellie 7, Ozzy 5, Charley 12.5, and Tasha's about 8 now. Have I mentioned she's going blind??

Have I mentioned she's going blind?? Is she? I don't recall you mentioning it before - is she bumping into things or is it something else? We think (and have done for some time) that Gus is long-sighted because he can see things that are way off in the distance but if you give him a biscuit, he really snatches at it, or if it's on the ground, he has to sniff it out.

She's always bumped into things She's got Glaucoma www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/glaucoma/symptoms-causes/syc-20372839and cataracts www.nhs.uk/conditions/cataracts/been getting steadily worse for about 3 years. She's now completely blind on the left hand side, and the optician vet says she can only see blurry shapes on the right side. Doesn't stop her chasing insects round the garden, tho' She gets too kinds of eye drops twice a day (cosopt and pred forte) - it can only get worse, we're just trying to ease it as much as possible.

I didn't know it was as bad as that Brian, poor girl. They are so adaptable though and will have a happy life anyway.

We'll just help her do the best she can - I've toyed with the idea of getting her a guide dog, but she's prob'ly happiest being 'only'

Poor Tasha, I also didn't realise it was that bad - she doesn't need a guide dog, you are her guide human!
