Really sad The people who nick the dogs don't realise the heartbreak, all they care about is profit

Very sad - but what happened to chips (and maybe tattoos)?? "There were an estimated 2,000 reports of dog thefts" - they can't all be young pups??

The trouble is, despite the media interest, people who buy cute not-quite-puppies don't check for chips etc. That's why vets ought to check microchips when first presented with a dog or cat. They don't! My own vets (and I do trust them) have NEVER checked Badger's microchip. Not once. Yes, they know me. But it should be automatic even if it's to help a new owner to register a new chip.

You are right about the chips - vets do not check - we are (luckily) not frequent visitors to vets, but whenever we go, nobody in the past (or now) has been checked.

Wouldn't it be useful if they added the chip to the dog's records??

Vinny is chipped and tattoo’d and he has a steering lock on his head and a Denver boot.

Wouldn't it be useful if they added the chip to the dog's records?? Yes, but that's only useful if it's the original chip registration.
