Years ago, I worked with a young lad, his father owned hunt kennels. I made clear my disgust and said they should shut down all hunt kennels, he said if that was the case they would have to destroy all the dogs. I asked why they could not be re homed? He looked at me and said these dogs have lived in packs all their lives and have learnt to kill prey from a young age, it would put the public at risk if they went into a normal household. Still does not make it right

There is just no end to the cruelty humans perpetrate against animals. This is similar to what happens to greyhounds once too old to race.

Still does not make it right Certainly does not make it right, but presumably, in the right hands the dogs could be re-trained. The whole idea of hunting foxes is despicable. Who ever thought it up in the first place? I guess the same people who decided it is good to hunt other animals (deer etc).

Another example of man's inhumanity.

... these dogs have lived in packs all their lives and have learnt to kill prey from a young age, it would put the public at risk ... Yet somehow it's still ok to let packs of them loose in public ... ... This is similar to what happens to greyhounds once too old to race. Sadly yes - plenty of petitions on that one, and at least it's possible to rehome retired greyhounds. ... presumably, in the right hands the dogs could be re-trained ... I think they're essentially feral?? Humans are way too quick to consider animals as possessions or commodities - but then again, we do it to humans, too ...

As they have never been house trained and are used to living in a large pack, would they be happy living in a domestic environment? Probably not but why shoot them?

I doubt that they could live anywhere if they weren't in a pack - it's all they've ever known. And I can't see the huntsmen going to the expense of humane euthanasia with a vet.

Unfortunately, those dogs are mainly adults & could never be conditioned to solitary living.
