Let's hope that these new laws have some effect on the numbers of puppies being smuggled into the country, and as for ear-cropping and tail docking - perhaps the people that do this should have their ears cropped and see how they like it!  www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-58287850 |

Not holding my breath - as I understand it they could do this with existing legislation. More Mrs Blojo meddling?? Dead cat, more likely ... And today I get a Parliamentary petition reply 'No plans for veterinary ombudsman - RCVS do a good enough job managing already ...'   |

I understand what you mean, Brian, but although our laws don't accept ear cropping, until now no particular emphasis has been placed on cropping & importing or breeding, sending abroad for cropping, and bringing back.
This should, at least, stop the export/re-import of those breeds the Continent consider 'croppable'.
It's a VERY small step in the right direction.

Agreed it’s a VERY small step in the right direction - today I got a Parliamentary petition reply ‘The Government believes animal use for research remains important and The Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986 (ASPA) provides specific protection for these animals.’
