American Bulldog has been put down because of an attack on the owner - www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-nottinghamshire-58224546AB's are really powerful dogs, we suffered first hand when one attacked my Max years ago! It took my OH, who had to beat it with his walking stick, and a friend, quite some time before it would let go of Max. No harm done thanks to Max's very thick long coat!

How awful. I wonder why the dog turned?

Could be any number of reasons, maybe the dog was in pain? I didn't see in the article how old it was?

Could be any number of reasons, maybe the dog was in pain? I didn't see in the article how old it was? It was late Saturday, early hours of yesterday. What on earth was the dog doing in the same room as a sleeping child? I know some people allow their dogs to sleep with their children, but it's really not a good idea in my opinion.

No dog or cat should ever be left alone with a child, IMHO. There was even a case a few years ago where a litter of puppies mauled a baby to death. It’s just not worth taking even the smallest risk.

Only known one AB - loveable and cuddly with all people. I can believe it - the one we knew had an owner who just didn't have a clue, she was a complete idiot!!

It’s almost always the owner’s fault when a dog is out of control. Sadly it’s always the dog who pays the penalty. ☹️
