Last Thursday 18/02/2021 my gorgeous girl Leah fell asleep for the last time.
She had been very unwell for only a few short weeks and what manifested itself initially as a mobility issue sadly turned out to be a sinister mass on her spleen.
We knew she wasn’t doing very well, but we were not prepared for her diagnosis and things moved very quickly once her blood work came back.
Our vet had her into the surgery within 30 minutes and 20 minutes later she slipped away peacefully, resting in the loving arms of her Mum and Dad... she was three weeks shy of her 12 birthday.
She was such a gentle girl, who sashayed around the house like royalty, there was not a bad bone in her body. I miss the sound of her ‘ voice’ , the chink of her nametag, the clatter of her paws on the wood floor, the nudge of her nose in the early morning, the smell of her fur when we cuddled... I just miss her.
This is something I wrote for her... I think it says all it needs to:-
Run like the wind my darling
And don’t look back behind you
For if you do... you’ll only see my tears
Run like the wind my baby girl
The gift of peace will find you
But take with you some special souvenirs
Take all the love collected in a lifetime
To keep you warm whilst we must be apart
And worry not how I will ever manage
To fix the broken pieces of my heart
Take with you the sound of gentle whispers
The comfort of my reassuring hand
Know, that even though I’m going to miss you
Things will work out just the way we planned
Take with you my softly spoken promise
That i will not forget your gentle soul
Remember everything I ever taught you
Show Rainbow Bridge the way to Rock n Roll!
Run like the wind my darling
As free as when I found you
No longer dulled by misery and pain
But listen for me calling
Through the rainbow that surrounds you
For one day, we are sure to meet again❤️
