I commented to Buddy's physiotherapist yesterday that it is so much easier to live with a dog versus a cat because a dog is bound to you and not your home, as cats tend to be. We were talking about how much I've traveled with Buddy and how much he trusts me in situations that are uncomfortable and even scary (like standing in a glass box filled with water where the floor moves).
This morning I read this article and found it very interesting but not too surprising. It's a study done in British institutions but all the researchers are Swedish, interestingly enough. Dogs are humans' oldest companions, DNA shows

Interesting article thanks for sharing.
I used to think cats were bound to the home Carlin but having looked after cats in there owners home when owners were away found cats miss there owners alot and get very distressed when there owners are on holiday and will go around the house crying and looking for there owners, cats like to be with someone.

Interesting article thanks for sharing. I used to think cats were bound to the home Carlin but having looked after cats in there owners home when owners were away found cats miss there owners alot and get very distressed when there owners are on holiday and will go around the house crying and looking for there owners, cats like to be with someone. My 2 cats who passed this year and 2 years ago were both very much bound to me but they were also literally rescued from the streets by me as kittens. My male was very insecure and neurotic and not even having a human sleep over with him was good enough when I went to the USA for 2 weeks. After I rescued my Greek cat and he had constant company then he calmed down with having others around but both cats would follow me on walks like dogs when I lived in a house and could let them out.
My Greek cat was more like a dog than a cat. She bonded instantly with me when I rescued her and always made sure to be by my side and wholly trusted me. When I rescued her all I had to do was open a cat carrier and she walked right in and settled down to purr.
