D'n'me've just spent an interesting couple of days tracking down Tasha's chip registration (the rescue forgot to forward the details to us when we adopted her), got some strange and interesting results I have it on good authority (from the head of one of the UK's largest GSD rescue organisations) that many of those 'trace/check your dogs registration - any make/type of chip, any frequency ...' websites are _scams_ - hoping to trick unwary owners into parting with their money, personal/bank details and so on Be careful out there ...

Wow, I've never had to check, Dempsey was the only dog I've had chipped & that was with the KC one.

We had Gus chipped at The Dogs Trust near us, it seemed better to let them have the money rather than someone else, although they took him off to a different room to do it. I usually ask the Vet to check the position of it when I go. Lucy was already done when we got her so I had to change the details for her.

To add to this Baileys previous owners couldn’t contact his breeder as he only spoke Portuguese to change his microchip when he arrived in the UK. I took this on myself, searched his chip number which was registered in Portugal and re-registered it at a cost of £10 and now everything is in my name. I got him scanned at my vets to check and everything has gone through ok. Seemed pretty easy so I worried about a con at first but all was legit and I haven’t had any issues. If anyone needs help with registering a foreign dog please message me
