I have leopard slugs in my garden, they eat the garden slugs and leave the plants alone. Many gardens have them but people probably think they are ordinary slugs.
In case people don't know, they are the striped slugs.😉

You've got me thinking now!!

Used coffee grounds are a natural repellant for slugs and help enrich the soil.
I used to collect leopard slugs and place them in my garden, back when I had one, since they help with breaking down dead plant material and kill the dreaded invasive Spanish slug, or "murder slug" (mördarsnigel), as they are called here in Sweden. I encouraged toads to live there as well but ended up having to move them because my cat, Sera, would catch them and bring them in, still very much alive. Did you know toads scream? It is the most terrifying sound to hear in the middle of the evening when you are curled up on the couch watching Midsummer Murders repeats.

Coffee grinds are good, provided your dog doesn't try to eat them (yes, Dempsey tried!) as they're poisonous for dogs.

I also did not know that toads scream - and yes, caffeine is bad for dogs (also cats).

My dad once heard screaming coming from the drain outside the kitchen window and when he investigated, he found a frog that had got caught in the hot water being let out of the sink! Obviously he rescued him immediately and all was well.

The frogs in my garden must be happy enough - I've never heard them scream! Wow, that must be awful!

The frogs in my garden must be happy enough - I've never heard them scream! Wow, that must be awful! It is truly a terrible sound and very human. My cat, Sera, brought in the same toad no less than 3 times. After the third time I took him a good kilometer away to a pond close by. It worked since after that is was only (dead) mice that she would give me as presents. The screaming worked as she never actually harmed the toad. This is a clip of a toad screaming:
