Common sense really, I would have thought all dog owners would know that - having a freely moving dog in a car can be a distraction.

I came across an infoggrafic for dogs and cars the other day, nearly decided to share it We always go the dog guard route, has to be robust since we've been known to have 5 or more dogs in the back Before folk worried about such things, sometimes had 3 shep sized dogs (and occasionally a couple of cats) loose in an MG Midget - but they all know their places The look on people's faces at traffic lights was priceless

When the dogs are in my car - a Toyota Verso S - Gus goes behind bars in the back and Lucy has a special car harness for the back seat where she also has a fantastic seat cover. In Ron's BMW X1, they both travel in the back. Years ago I had a Granada Estate, loads of room in the back, especially with the seats down. I quite often had 3 sheps at a time in that one with room to spare.

Vinny just gets hooked on a lead attached to the car and his tag collar which is quite loose so in theory he could struggle free in an emergency. He is very good in the car as its his safe space, and he just likes to lay down and look out of the windows.

Dempsey wears a harness & seat belt attachment. He can move from side to side & look out of the window, but in case of an accident he can't be thrown forward into us or through the windscreen.

That sounds like the one that I have for her ladyship, she likes to leave dog snot on the window and she can do that quite easily in her harness.

It isn't dog snot, it's nose art! Nose art - I love it - Should we maybe create a "dog art" website? I am probably too late with the idea - somebody will have thought of it already.
