Found this on fb, it's quite thought provoking. I don't know about others here, but I have never left an animal to be put down without me being there. Personally I think we owe it to our pets, after all they give us so much.

Yes, it's upsetting. And I remember each & every one of them. But I wouldn't change it for the world.

Aide passed and I cuddled her and we pressed our faces together as she slipped away. I have been with all of my charges as they left this place for the next. The depressing thing is that I will have to do the same for Vinny in the coming months. Back in the day I used to take my friends dogs in for euthanasia as they 'couldn't bare it' but somebody they knew had to be there to comfort them.
