gif - stands for Graphics Interchange Format Most GIFs are stationary pictures, they used to be the most used web pictures since they're relatively small for uncompressed pictures. There are stationary GIFs (normal pictures), interlaced GIFs (which draw all the odd rows first, then the evens - so that the picture starts appearing faster) and Animated GIFs (ani-gifs - a succession of pictures appearing rapidly, like a stick-man flick-book). en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GIFNowadays, most stationary web pictures are JPEGs or PNGs - which use fractal compression to reduce picture size.

Wow, internet guru (Brian) to the help again - so much to learn on the internet, thanks for the additional info (I don't think I'll ever use GIFs though, I'll just share pics through imgur like Jacqui taught me).

Most common uses for ani-gifs are for posting short movies on sites which don't support video links. You can find sites (and apps) which will convert your movie clip to an ani-gif. Also used for those (annoying??) animations folk post on eg. Facebook. There's a thriving sub-culture of supplying ani-gifs as memes. eg. giphy.com/explore/animatedtenor.com/search/animated-gifs

Now you are talking gobble-dee-gook Brian - I don't do films anyway. I am lucky to get a good photo of Axel - most people (including hubby) class my photographic skills as s**t, just imagine what I would be like with a film clip. BTW, hubby is thinking!!!! of getting his camera out (has not been used in ages), if he ever does there will be decent photos of Axel

Ha! he's lovely. My long haired red sable changed colour so many times I didn't know what I was going to wake up to.

I think he's a bit lighter, isn't he? Or is that just the light? Hes deffo getting lighter, although the black stripe down his back has reappeared and he's got a black tip on his tail and a black ring round the middle of his tail so I think he may get darker again

FYI, Jenn - these are Google photos, but linked directly gsduk.boards.net/post/28086/threadThe only problem is that Google sometimes choose to renumber all the pix they hold, then they disappear from the forum history
