Thanks for the heads-up - I didn't know that either, I wonder if it is just cocoa butter or every moisturiser? I have been using a lot of hand cream lately to keep my hands from drying out after washing them, I will have to be careful - will pass it on to all people I know as well!

That makes sense - so "normal" moisturisers should be okay? I will still be careful though.

I have often wondered about this, I use hand cream everyday but always wash the handcream off before touching any food or water bowl I give to any animal or bird.
I wondered about putting this thread in the health section? thanks for adding to the title as it wouldn't let me type (Dog Nearly Died After Owner Stroked Dog With Moisturiser On Hands).

Hard to know what's in anything we use nowadays  I'm guessing this was a very small dog?? Chocolate's toxic to dogs, but would need to be non-british and in large-ish quantity?? I'd hope sheps are to big to be affected by a few licks, but can't be too careful ... Flea treatments only work (relatively) safely because dogs are much bigger than fleas |

One of our cats had some fleas at some time, luckily we got rid of them fairly quickly, but I am just imagining the giant fleas marching around the place ...
