I've got an on-line (Canadian) friend who lives in Denmark - she says it's heading that way too  Denmark has begun border checks of people entering Denmark from Sweden because they see the organized crime bleeding over into Denmark. This past weekend the police in Copenhagen arrested 3 people in Copenhagen and had 3 people in Gothenburg arrested on charges of organized criminal activity. They are being very quiet with the details of what kind of activity it is.

It is terrible. A little boy from Birmingham was killed in 2016 after someone threw a grenade into the apartment where he was staying while visiting relatives here in Gothenburg. One of his relatives had been convicted of being involved in a gang-related shooting using automatic weapons in a pub during a football match and was in jail at the time so it not a retaliation against that man, rather, against his family. No one was ever arrested for the crime and the main suspect was killed before the police could take him in for questioning.
I can write a whole essay about my thoughts on the reasons for the violence and such.
I can say this about the people who talk about feeling unsafe in Sweden: I live in the poorest neighborhood in Gothenburg and one of the 57 "most at risk" areas of the country and I do not feel at all unsafe. I saw a great deal more violence in the little town I lived in back in the USA. The only time I felt threatened was when a drug addict with an aggressive pitbull lived one door down from me and that was because he was never sober and very aggressive. He threatened both Buddy and me. He is the only person Buddy ever exhibited aggression towards, but that was after multiple confrontations with that man. I was so happy when they finally tossed him out.
